About Dr. K
My full name is Dr. Katherine E.A. Korkidis, but over the years, my students have affectionately come to call me Dr. K. My journey began in industry, where I conducted original research after completing my graduate degree in physics and chemistry. Alongside my research, I taught at several universities and developed groundbreaking technologies, all while exploring the world, from the United States and Canada to Europe, Russia, and the Far East. These experiences enriched my perspective and allowed me to combine my love for teaching and writing. Eventually, I realized that storytelling was my true passion, and I transitioned into writing full-time. My first novel, Josette, marked the beginning of this exciting new chapter.
Since then, I have authored nine award-winning books, each exploring a variety of themes and genres. Among my proudest achievements is The KEAK Anthology, a collection of short stories spanning multiple genres. This work earned 14 Gold Book Awards between late 2023 and the end of 2024, a testament to its appeal across diverse audiences. In 2024, I ventured into the world of children’s literature with the publication of my first chapter book for readers aged 8-12. This new series, Dr. K’s Portal Through Time, combines history, science, and adventure to ignite curiosity and inspire young minds. The debut book, Galileo’s Points of Light in the Night Sky, takes readers on an unforgettable journey through time to 1631 to meet Galileo, blending real science with the magic of storytelling.
I am honored to share my stories with readers of all ages and hope they inspire imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love for learning.
